Entrepreneurial success takes time, dedication and lots of hard work. It sounds simple but it pays big when you make the appropriate investment and commitment.
A couple of weeks ago, I got a voice mail from a potential client. In her message, the young lady told me that she was interested in hiring me as her coach. I returned the call, we chatted briefly then scheduled time to connect for a breakthrough session with me.
Now here’s the fun part: As we jumped into our session, I asked her how she found out about me. She told me that every time she thought about developing a coaching business, she would look at me and notice that I was consistently present in the marketplace. Then, she reminded me of a coaching session we had more than eight years ago. Although she wasn’t ready at that time, she remembered our coaching. She knew when she was ready, I’d be the first call she’d make. That’s exactly what she did!
More than eight years ago!! Yes, you read that correctly.
In my last post, I shared five strategies to consider when you feel like calling it quits.
In this post, I want you to understand two very, very important thoughts to ensure your entrepreneurial success:
- First impressions are lasting impressions. (If you’re a coach, your coaching has a lasting impact.)
- You never know who’s watching and ready to connect with you. More importantly, you never know who’s ready to hire you.
Experiences like mine highlight why you must not only have a “never give up” attitude about your business but why you also want to be committed for the long haul. Your entrepreneurial success depends on it!
There are a few added benefits, as well…
- The longer you’re in business, the more confident, competent and capable you become. This is especially true if you’re paying attention to honing your craft, offering your best and always serving from your heart. Time becomes your greatest ally and growth is certain.
- You grow as an entrepreneur and as a subject-matter expert, as well. Your dedication paves the way for you as a role model for sustainable success. Your ideal clients pay attention and so do your peers. It’s because your tenacity is attractive and everyone wants to experience that attraction you exude. Your community of clients, colleagues and friends become vested in your entrepreneurial success, too. They’re watching and waiting on your next big move — whatever it is!
Listen, keep planting your seeds of expertise into the world and you’ll reap all the benefits of entrepreneurial success, too!
Thanks for the reminder WendyY, we have to keep at it. I’ve had clients come back to me because I’ve been there for a long time, while others have gone on to other things. It feels good for people to recognize longevity and know that your experience means alot to them.
You’re most welcome, Carol. I love knowing I’m still “here” for returning clients, too. Whether they’re returning or connecting because of the longevity, it feels really great. After more than 20 years as a thriving entrepreneur, I know you really understand.
Wendyy Bailey, I have a similar story of a former yoga student who I ran into in spin class. She remembered that I was a designer and asked if I did websites. We had a follow up convo and I told her she needed branding. Now I’m rebranding her biz. All because she paid attention to my words, and remembered them years later. She’d been contacted by many web designers over the years, but trusted me. Because she trusted me, she believed me when I said she needed more than just a website — now she has a new logo, photos, messaging — a new brand!
That’s an awesome story of lasting success! Sometimes people give up way too soon. The longer you’re in business, the more you see the benefits of staying power. Longevity happens one day at a time. 🙂
