Unwavering Commitment. Possibility. Together, they create long-term success.
Is failure ever an option when you have an unwavering commitment to possibility?
Several years ago, I was dating this guy and we decided to take a break. Months later we reconnected and decided to have dinner. We had a wonderful evening.
At least I thought so until I discovered a few days later that he was in the midst of planning his wedding. Yes, he was about to marry someone else! When I asked him why he’d failed to tell me before we went to dinner, he quipped that he was only getting married.
He said, “If it doesn’t work out, I can always get a divorce.”
I was livid at first!
Then, I felt sorry for his future wife. If he was already looking for a way out, what did that say about his commitment (or lack thereof) to the marriage in the first place?
Unwavering commitment to possibility means failure is not an option.
Like my uncommitted ex, I’ve seen too many entrepreneurial leaders do the same thing. They include “it’ on their list of options when they face each business day. Call “it” what you will. I call it failure and wonder if it truly is an option you want to keep on the list. In a recent post, I shared my perspective about failure if you’re ever thinking of calling it quits.
But, the real question here is – are you 100% committed to your business?
That means, you’re playing full out and dedicating 100% of your time, energy, blood, sweat, tears and bodily fluids to ensure the long-term success of your business? Yep, it takes all of that and more sometimes. I’m not suggesting that you die trying mind you. I am suggesting; however, that you remain open to ways to insert possibility into your business in everything you do.
It’s called having an unwavering commitment to possibility, to yourself and to your business!
This is a rant from the What Would WendyY Do? files… so tell me — Is failure STILL an option for you?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this one so be sure to leave me a comment.
