Less is more…
is a phrase used to express the view that a minimalist approach is more effective.
I’m sure you know how I feel when I say, I can do minimalist all day long when it comes to blogging! It is SO true that even though I love to write, sitting down to channel that passion to blog regularly is challenging for me, too.
Earlier this year during my downtime, I actually made a commitment to blog SEVEN times a week. Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, I think I was drinking the proverbial Kool-aid when I came up with that goal!
And, even though I was actually able to accomplish that goal once, I knew that I was working really, really, really, really, really hard. Can you tell it was hard? 🙂
What in the world was I doing to myself?!
Whew, what was I thinking making such an unreasonable commitment to myself?! #SelfSaboteurAtWork
Time to work smarter, not harder
Then, I discovered how to work smarter…not harder and it was a welcome relief. Let me tell you… I’ll take smarter work any ole day of the week!
Here’s quick bit of history for you…
Allan F. Mogensen is the creator of Work Simplification, the conscious seeking of the simplest, easiest, and quickest method of doing work. Mogensen coined the phrase “work smarter not harder” in the 1930’s but it still works extremely well today. A modern day equivalent is probably “Business Process Re-engineering.”
And, as a process engineer in the early days of my corporate career, I was THRILLED to know I could re-engineer the whole blogging thing to simplify the steps and leverage my time to create consistent cash flow, too. #IStillHaveThoseSkills
That’s why I’m not keeping what I learned to myself. I’m sharing my “re-engineered” blogging process with you!
